factors in the professionalism of Journalism . (According to Brian Duignan of

feeling of social duty on the part of journalists, 2. specialized journalism
education, 3. a developing literature dealing with the history, issues, and
tactics of mass communication, and 4. an expanding sense of social obligation
on the part of journalists.
My Synopsis Meeting 2
In their paper of group 1 “A matter of facts: The News Values and
Elements”, states that Journalists are always on the lookout for strong stories
that are in the public interest. Their knowledge of news values will enable
them to select stories that can boost their circulation or media ratings. Those
responsible for deciding the news agenda are sometimes called “gatekeepers”.
Gatekeeping takes place at many levels – the newspaper or broadcast station’s
owner, its editor, and senior journalists. Lowering down the hierarchy,
reporters will also exercise similar judgments when they choose who to
interview and what parts of their reply should be included in their report.
My Synopsis Meeting 3
In group 2 paper “Soft news emphasizes more on the details of the
news”, states that Soft news, in general, is news that in terms of writing
structure is relatively more flexible, dynamic, and in terms of content is not
too heavy like other news. Soft news in general is not too straightforward, not
rigid, or strict, especially in terms of time and sometimes it will not easily
get stale and can be read at any time.

Interview”, states that Use the Ws and H to form relevant questions that will
get the interviewee to open up with you. The what, how, and why are especially
good for this because these questions cause the interviewee to explain
something to you, and that means he or she will be speaking in entire
sentences, possibly even paragraphs, rather than in one-word responses.

interesting information about the person’s life, rather than just the person’s
opinions. Meanwhile, the news feature is your typical essay that says facts,
events, or processes accompanied by historical explanations of occurrence, the
nature of the case, the process of its formation, and how it works. Both of
them have their structure, steps, and lists of information that need to be

My
Synopsis Meeting 14
Broadcast
journalism is defined as a means of speaking or appearing on radio or
television. Broadcast media are immediate, bringing news from the scene into
viewers' and listeners' homes. Broadcast stories give information without a
great deal of detail. News stories run for 2-7 minutes. Broadcast stories are
circular in nature. Newscasters speak more conversationally to their listeners
than print journalists write. Before the publication, there will be not just an
overall plan and layout print to be made and printed, there must also be a
precise plan for the broadcast program, including a news broadcast. Because the
entire broadcast needs to be scripted, the stories are only one part of the
script. Between reporters, seemingly spontaneous encounter to takes up air
time. Nevertheless, the broadcast must be planned so that it fits the allotted
air time and each segment must be timed precisely.
